SYNOPSIS

What’s up DUC is a sitcom with one episode every two weeks, 5 episodes in total. It takes place in a Canadian university, Drama University of Canada (DUC). Professor Brown is an expert on China. He often introduces recent news events in China in class to provide material for the students to develop their dramas. At the same time, he gives some of his own insights into these events, but often receives different insights from his students from totalitarian or former communist countries. There were often humorous and sarcastic conversations and clashes of ideas in class. In each episode, the students will make up a satirical and humorous drama based on material provided by Professor Brown.

Each episode will be about 25 minutes, composed of three parts:
1. Professor Brown talked about the recent news events in China or China-related international news. (3-5 minutes)
2. Student discussions and interactions with Professor Brown (about 10 minutes)
3. Drama based on the news. (10-12 minutes)

Since the episodes use up-to-date news, no detailed synopsis, treatment, or scripts are available currently. The writer team will work on the scripts about two weeks to one month ahead of each episode to allow shooting preparation.
